Barry M Mint Green

I love this colour, especially in spring, when all things pastel-y are in fashion, and soft mints are my favourite pastels. Unfortunately, crappy application puts me off this one, because no pretty colour is worth the effort.
Application was a total nightmare- sheer, patchy, gloopy, streaky, slow drying. Cue much rage and numerous attempts to make it right and the stink of nail polish remover that permeated my house. The first coat went on patchy/streaky, but full opacity required at least three colours. I waited at least 15 min before each layer and everything looked fine and it was dry to touch. I painted my nails around 8 pm with this one and went to bed around 12. And woke up with sheet marks all over my nails.

This was a second attempt, and it shows the streaks and bald patches(especially on my index finger), despite extra careful application. This is two coats- I could not afford any time for the third one as this would have taken all day to dry:

I still love the beautiful, floaty pastel apple green on my nails, if only from the distance. It leans towards light blue in this picture, but in life its a lot greener, less like turquoise and more like pistachio ice-cream

. I would use this again,but only when I have time to paint my nails and do nothing else all day.

Benefit Eye Wanna! Collection

I spotted this on sale in Debenhams and I just couldn't resist. I had additional 10% off the sale price as I recently applied for a Debenhams Card, so I figured why not.
The limited edition collection consists of two little creaseless cream eyeshadow pots in Static (taupe-ish silver) and Airbrush (nudey pink shade, I mostly use it as a base and I think it brightens my eyes somewhat) and three generously sized powder eyeshadows in Skyline, Inked and Deco (light cornflower blue, navy and red toned purple respectively).

 I love the illustration on the box, it was apparently drawn by a professional artist, although I havent looked at the details. I love the candy coloured eyeshadows and this palette seemed perfect for me

The case looks very sturdy and features a decent sized mirror on the lid, but only has a simple magnetic clasp, so I don't think it would be suitable for travel (except the creaseless cream pots that you can take out). There is a little booklet featuring different eye looks that can be done with this palette, and they are very interesting and seem to be wearable.

I love the creamy consistency of the eyeshadows, and they do hold up well, but they dont look that nice on dry eyelids (which I had today, for some reason my skin was very dry today). I think the palette was worth it for these pots alone! They would appeal to people who love nudes as well!
The powder eyeshadows are very nice, but I have an inkling that Deco and Inked are similar to the Wet'n'Wild palette colours (purple from Spoiled Brat and dark blue from I Got Good Jeans), I should do a comprison, really.
Its a bit of a useless review, seeing as it was an LE palette and it was on sale, but it was my first big Benefit purchase and I wanted to share my views on it. If anyone spots this on sale, its worth a look! I used to think of Benefit as of a gimmicky brand, but this palette has swayed my opinion slightly (I do love Benetint too). It looks as if a lot of thought has been put into this, and I'm glad I picked it up.

Accessorize Pin Up Nail Polish

This is one of my top 20 nail polishes, and considering that I have more than a hundred now, this is a high praise indeed. I bought it on an impulse, after spotting a 3for2 offer on all Accessorize Cosmetics in Superdrug. I already had my eye on Aztek and Bronze (Illusion range) and this was the the one I picked on random. At first I was disappointed with it, because despite having a smooth, lovely formula, it dried to a weird, dull finish without showing much of the sparkle and glitter that was present in  the bottle. I was really vexed with it, until I realised I should have used a topcoat. Result: no dusty looking ugliness and all the sparkle!
I found out that it benefits from a relatively thick but quick drying topcoat- it covers the nail like glass and brings out the glitter even more. I used OPI RapiDry for this purpose, although any topcoat that smooths the surface of the nail polish will do:

I decided to paint this on after realising that my potted hyacinths have flowered into fragrant, tall spikes of dark purple flowers. A purple nail polish was therefore declared to be the winner (I couldnt decide between my hundred bottles. Although I'm pretty sure thats not such a record number for someone who blogs about nail polish, albeit not that often). Does anyone here have more than me? What are your favourite colours?
